30 Days with the Fuji x100s: Day 30

More Fall

Today may be the last warm day of the season. 61 degrees and sunny. So everybody went out for a walk. Me, I went to the Teddy Roosevelt Island and I tried to get some alternative fall shots, which mostly consisted of me shooting leaves in water.

Then, on the way out, I saw these two pouring over a cell phone in the sunshine.

Rainy Day at the Diner

First, the rain. Who doesn't take this shot at least once in their life?

Second, the diner.
I've always wanted to eat at the Waffle Shop but it's a little scary. Today, I went with Scott. Woohoo!

This place is really tiny and I could take out the x100s and nobody looked twice.

I like how reflective the counter is.

Fall

I tried to capture some fall shots since it was such a beautiful fall day.

And fall has some beautiful sunsets. Lots of oranges and pinks.

Fayette Street Light Trails

Today's light trail comes right out of my office window. I think it will look better when the lights on the trees are lit up for the holidays. That should be any day now.

My advice of this camera: Always carry an extra battery. I do it with any camera, but with this one, you really need it. I actually put the camera in my purse (which has an extra battery in it) and a weekend camera bag (which has an extra battery in it). More times that not, I am changing the battery outside somewhere. Also, the batteries can go in backwards. Annoying for sure. I've learned to not do it any more, but the first week when I changed the battery, I thought I brought an uncharged battery by mistake. I missed some pictures that day and learned my lesson.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yesterday for a gift I received an 7-hour art class. It was a fun way to spend time with my sister. But it did not leave much time for taking pictures.

Here's one from the class of my sister's art supplies.

I can't stress enough how light this camera is. I really can take it anywhere and pull it out without people getting all stressed or goofy. It's great in that regard.

Lincoln Monument Light Trails

Another night chasing light trails. Thanks to the rain that came in right at dusk we had an interesting sky to work with.

Here's the Lincoln (with the Washington right behind it).

Then when you turn around you see Rosslyn. Very interesting sky looking that way.

And if you walk about, there are some tunnels.

And just for a change of pace, I took a picture of my bird cage when I noticed that the shadows were super cool. The screen door must have caused the lines to appear in the shadows. It was only like that for about 20 minutes. Enough time to move all the stuff around it, take the picture and fall off a chair.

Key Bridge Light Trails

I went back to the Key Bridge to try and get some shots with the blue sky. There were cars on the Whitehurst Freeway tonight. And the sky looked great. It's hard to get this shot because the trucks and buses on the bridge shake the bridge. And there are a lot of trucks and buses going across the Key Bridge, so you have to try a number of times and hope a truck doesn't go by. When you are doing a 10 second exposure, that's a lot of hoping!

I tried to get back to the Rosslyn side to get the shot I was after, but it got dark quickly. Here's the GW parkway and the Washington Monument in the back there.

This is the shot I wanted with blue sky, but it was just a little too late.

And here's one I might go back and get with a great sky.
